11 - Biblical interpretation disclaimer

As a minor note on our endevour….

Biblical interpretation will run the gamut from extremely conservative, in which creation was completed in exactly 144 hours, to very liberal in which the divine is simply a metaphor. We do not want to participate in this dialogue, as we believe that since we are dealing with power, this should be equally relevant to both literalists and allegorists. Please note in advance that for our purposes, the content of scripture will be taken on its own terms dealing with the narrative and what is implied by it without making determinations about literal or allegorical content, as the narrative applies equally to any good faith interpretation. We will approach the scripture and narratives on their own terms. I.e. while we are not going to wade into the debate on whether the events in Genesis, etc really happened, we are going to take them at face value as if they did. This will yield the best results, ones that can be used fruitfully by any person with just about any interpretation.
